MetroWest Jewish Day School (MWJDS) is a vibrant and innovative PK-8 pluralistic Jewish day school that nurtures students and challenges them to reach their potential on their journeys of learning and discovery. Our nearly 50 students range from grades PK-8, and our intentionally small classes tend to have between 5-10 students each. We welcome people of all Jewish backgrounds and practices, and our families come to us from as far east as Brookline, and as far west as Worcester. We are known for our individualized pedagogical approach that supports and challenges each child. We emphasize individual problem solving, creativity, discovery, and paths of learning in both general and Judaic subject areas.

We are seeking a passionate, creative, and experienced Jewish educator to be our next Director of Jewish Experience.

What you will do
You will serve as our lead Jewish Educator, promoting Jewish life and learning throughout the school community and serving as a role model for living a Jewish life. In addition you will:

Promote a positive Jewish experience Your oversight of our Jewish education and Jewish experiences will foster a love for Jewish life within our community. Your programming will inspire and engage students, faculty, and parents alike. NOTE: There is also the potential to combine this role with the head Rabbi role of the synagogue in which we rent our space.

Be the instructional leader Your leadership skills and strong background in Judaic studies will help create a vibrant curriculum, foster research-based instructional practices, and ensure strong outcomes for our students. You will support the growth and development of the Judaics studies faculty, including promoting professional development for the team. Together you will collaborate on school-wide Jewish holiday celebrations and determine effective ways to integrate Jewish learning into secular studies, as appropriate.

Be an ambassador for the school Engaging in outreach, you will represent us to local community organizations and leaders and establish collaborations that will enhance the school and our broader community. You will also assist the Head of School in creating family education programming.

Judaics classroom teacher You will use your curriculum and instruction skills as the primary Judaics teacher for the lower grades, and when you do some teaching in the upper grades as well.

Ritual Leader You get to show off your creative programming and fresh approach to Jewish ritual practice when you conduct our daily Tefillah and weekly Kabbalat Shabbat services.

You are a proficient user of technology for communication, collaboration, instruction, and professional learning.
You have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Jewish Education, or similar.
At least 3 years experience as a Jewish educator, or a rabbinic degree.
At least 3 years of experience in an academic environment (preferably K-8 Jewish Day School), ideally teaching Judaics to multiple grade levels.

Location: MetroWest Jewish Day School is located in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Hours: The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Salary: The range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000, based on experience.
Benefits: We offer numerous benefits including health/vision/dental insurance, personal, vacation, and sick time, and summers off. We are closed on Jewish and national holidays and have early release Fridays.
